Before you start

Before you register an animal please be aware that:

You must register and microchip all dogs and cats with Council by 3 months of age.
All cats must be desexed.
Children under the age of 18 can't register an animal. It must be registered by a parent or guardian
If you want to keep more than 2 dogs and 2 cats, you may also need an excess animal permit.

Please note: Listing your pet with Central Animal Records is separate from Council registration. All dogs and cats must still be registered with Council.

Information required

Registration details

Details that you may be required to provide during your registration include:

A valid email address to register for an online account
Microchip number
Copy of your Pensioner Concession or Veteran Card (for concessions)

Required documentation

Depending on the animal classification you select, you will be required to provide supporting evidence.

American Staffordshire Terrier Dog:

Proof of breed

Assistance dog:

Declaration from a health professional to verify that you have a disability and will require the assistance of an assistance dog
Dog training certificate and a declaration by the relevant dog trainer
Veterinary advice confirming dogs birth date and desexing status

Domestic cat:

Animal desexing certificate, or
Proof of vet exemption for desexing

Domestic desexed dog:

Animal desexing certificate

Council enrolled foster carer animal:

Owner and animal details from Game Management Authority

Government authority working dog:
