Before you apply
When Council issues a planning permit, there are time frames in which you must start and finish your development or commence the use.
If you need more time for development or commencement of land use, you will need to ask for an extension to the planning permit.
Please note:
- If applying within 12 months after the permit expires, you must show proof that the project started before the permit expired and that all conditions were met.
- For combined permits, subdivision expiry times are included.
- Council and VCAT cannot extend permits beyond the specified times outlined in Section 69 of thje Planning and Environment Act 1987. You will need to apply for a new permit in such cases.
