Before you start

A planning permit is a legal document issued by Council that allows a certain use or development on land. It ensures proposals align with our local and state planning schemes and strategies.

You may need a planning permit for:

Building or extending a house
Subdividing land
Starting a business on residential land
Removing or trimming native vegetation
Displaying signage
Changing land use (e.g. turning a warehouse into a restaurant)

Please note: A planning permit is different from a building permit. You may need both for your project
